'Get Into' Landscaping YES Program

Kindret Landscaping recently partnered with Princes Charities Canada (www.princescharities.ca) to launch the “Get into Landscaping” program. This pilot program - the second of it’s kind of all of Canada – is an opportunity to give barriered Youth (aged 18-29) access to industry-specific training that leads to employment opportunities. We were excited to lead this initiative and pioneer the proof-of-concept in the Landscaping and Construction industries; we aspire to be innovative in all aspects of our business, including recruitment, training and retention.

We feel that this training provides an excellent foundation to Youth interested not only the landscaping trade, but in construction in general. Our sincere belief is that the program will equip the Youth in our community with the tools, skills and resources they require to become, and remain, productive and employable. The Get Into Landscaping program kicked off with 45 individuals coming to our “Taster / Try out” day. Of those, 30 were selected for a four week intensive education and training program that took place both on-site at Kindret Landscaping, and in the classroom with our community partner, Youth Employment Services Manitoba (www.youthemploymentservices.com). We also partnered with the Winnipeg Construction Association, who sponsored the purchase of 12 pairs of work boots for the Youth that did not have any – see the link to the WCA newsletter here: http://us11.campaign-archive1.com/?u=40a3c587573fb05b514e40ddf&id=69c092524f.

After four weeks of both classroom and on-the-job training, The Get Into Landscaping program wrapped up on March 30, 2017 and we are thrilled to announce that 22 of the participants will be working with us this summer! We are looking forward to having them on our team!
