CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Project Management | Full-Time.

Kindret Landscaping Group is a Winnipeg-based Landscape Design/Build & Maintenance company. We are an award-winning, team-oriented, full-spectrum landscaping operation. Our services include commercial & residential landscape design and construction, year-round maintenance, and snow removal in the winter months.

As a result of continued growth and demand, we are currently seeking the services of an experienced full-time Construction Manager to join our team. The position available is full-time, year-round.

Position Overview 

The Construction Manager will be responsible for all aspects of coordinating and managing Kindret Landscaping’s ongoing landscape projects for residential and commercial customers. This is a multi-faceted position that requires the ability to work in and out of the office including site visits, compile weekly work schedules, Job Costing, effectively organize and manage crews to complete work on time,  manage sub-trades, and ensure quality and safety are maintained at all times. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Plan, coordinate and manage all landscape installations.

  • Ensure projects are completed on-time, on budget, and in-line with customer expectations for quality and service.

  • Coordinate all aspects of supplies & equipment for designated jobs.

  • Manage job costing and receipts. Notify the office manager of payments due.

  • Prepare estimates/quotes for bids on future projects.

  • Assist crews and provide solutions to problems or issues that may occur.

  • Manage/oversee quality control and progress.

  • Effectively deal with customer complaints.

  • Assist with managing snow removal contracts in the winter months.

 

Including:

  • Assisting with sales & marketing with an emphasis on growth and future business development for the landscape division.

  • Report to executive management with timely financial analysis of projects; provide suggestions to improve operations and profitability. Includes up to date financial information

  • Directing projects in a tactful and ethical manner, ensuring efficiency in completion of projects, quality workmanship, safe work practices and work sites, coaching and support for crew members, and respect for customer property.

  • Solve problems encountered with the day-to-day operations of the company, including but not limited to physical challenges on the worksite, subcontractor scheduling conflicts delayed materials and supplies, and rescheduling of project plans and activities due to inclement weather.

Required Skills / Qualifications / Personal Characteristics

  • Minimum of 5 – 8 years experience in construction or design, preferably landscaping.

  • Strong understanding of the equipment used in landscaping projects (ex. loaders, skid steers, excavators).

  • Horticultural experience, plant identification & turf knowledge will be considered an asset.

  • Education and certifications an assets.

  • Management skills – ability to effectively schedule, coach, direct, and support work crews.

  • Exceptional Time management skills – task prioritizing, scheduling of crews and sub-trades, planning for unexpected events (weather, unforeseen physical obstacles, etc.).

  • Ability to lead and manage independently, demonstrate integrity on properties, obtain and maintain respect from work crews (employees and sub-trades) as well as customers

  • Knowledge of local/regional climate, land composition, and geography.

  • Computer skills (Auto-Cad, Vectorworks, Dynascape, Windows, MS Office, ability to learn industry-specific programs).

  • Strong team orientation ("That’s not my job" is not an acceptable statement or mindset in our team environment) Positive attitude.

  • Entrepreneurial attitude and general appreciation for small business operations.

Work Details

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40+ hours per week. Incidental evening and/or weekend hours will be required depending on company needs and weather. In the event of workdays being canceled by the weather, it is understood that the project manager uses this as a day to get ahead with planning, current issues, paperwork, etc. More hours expected in the summer months as opposed to winter. 3 weeks vacation (15 business days).

Compensation

Kindret Landscaping offers competitive compensation, as well as, a benefits package for the right individual. Salary will be commensurate with the skills, knowledge, abilities, and experience of the successful candidate.
